Neobuzdani Galeb is a play based on R. Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a classic about spirituality and quest for the higher meaning of life. The book was a jumping off point for the work with two groups of teens on timeless ideas about human potential, bravery, love, kindness, forgiveness and (in)tolerance of the different ones.

The play departs from the original by setting the story in an Orwellian kind of world where people obey the rigid rules of dehumanized society characterized by hard forced work and ruthless fight for food, while the metaphor of flight still remains as an ideal of freedom to express oneself as a complete human being. Personal reflections, desires and passions of the young actors are intertwined within the play and translated into movement and text.

The project is produced in 2016. by Malik Rijeka, association for theatre education of children and youth (Rijeka, Croatia).

The play won a Special praise of the jury at the 19. Meeting of Professionally Managed Theatres for Children and Youth HC ASSITEJ in Bjelovar, Croatia, 2017.

“The director Andrea Crnković together with the participants of drama studio successfully brought on the scene the new staging of the Bach’s tale, introducing multimedia elements. Intelligent and unobtrusive use of video wall technology introduced a new dimension in the famous story, not disturbing for even one moment a well developed mise-en-scène and solid acting achievements of the participants.”
